I originally started Kale’s Adventure as a blog to document my adventures. Lol feels pretty self explanatory.
I blogged for a while but not consistently and then I found out I REALLY liked painting so I started focusing all my creative energy on that and here we are again, deciding to blog but this time about my paintings.
I thought it would be a fun idea to write about my inspiration and ideas behind what/why I paint!
So before I start dissecting my paintings how about a brief introduction!
My name is Michaela but growing my dad called me Kale so when we moved to California I figured it was a perfect time for a rebranding. I still go by both names but my catch phrase at coffee shops is “Kale – Like the vegetable” easy to spell and hard to forget.
I am a first generation American, my parents immigrated from South Africa to America to give my brother and I a better life. I was born and raised in South Dakota and from there we moved to Kansas – in-between those seasons we bought an entire city block, started a swim team, almost got deported, drove to every state in America for swim competitions – the list goes on, after moving to Kansas we started traveling internationally for swimming, I graduated high school at 15, learnt about nutrition and did all the meal prep and cooking for my family @ 16 years old, and at 17 my parents asked me how they could set me up in life and I said I wanted to live by the ocean and within 3 months we had sold our house and auctioned our belongings and were driving to a town in Southern California to a rental we hadn’t even seen before signing a year lease.
I can’t even begin to summarize my time in California so far, it truly has been the best times of my life not because everything has been good but because through it all I have never grown or changed as much as I have in the last 3 years.
I have been creative for as long as I can remember, but I started painting about 3 years ago (when we moved to California), after a year of painting everyone around me encouraged me to do something with my art so I made an art instagram account and sort of pursued it but I never poured 100% of my attention or energy in to it, so thats what I am doing now!
But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8

I believe in Jesus Christ, I believe God sent his one and only son to earth to live a sinless life and die once and for all for our sins. I believe he died and rose again and I believe he is coming back. All will bow a knee to the creator it is whether we do it willingly or not that matters. He is the creator and I desire to bring Him glory in how I live and in everything I do.
So thats a small half put together run down of my life so far but as the blog series continues you will get to learn all about me and why I paint what I do!!!
